After days of hestitancy, Martin Skrtel has sealed a 4 and 1/2 year deal to join Liverpool from Zenit St Petersburg. The 23-year-old centre back will wear the number 37 shirt. He has featured against Everton for Zenit this season in the Uefa Cup.
He will hopefully challenge, Agger, Hyppia and Carragher and could be the final piece of the jigsaw which sees Hyppia leave Anfield with Fulham presumably interested in him. He becomes the reds most expensive defender costing a cool £6m.
The slovakian international has made 23 appearances for his national team. He has played against some of his new team mates internationally including Steve Finnan. His move was stalled over the owners approving the move but that obstacle has been cleared succesfully to complete the deal.
